One of the reasons we created different sections across The Southern Deck was because not everyone comes to the beach for the same evening.

Our Beach Front is for guests who want the sand and sea as close as possible. The Lounge Area works when conversation matters more than activity around you. The Tile Corridor offers a more intimate setting, while the Wooden Dance Floor naturally suits dinners that might turn into music and dancing later.

There is also our air-conditioned, non-smoking Top Deck for guests who prefer more enclosed comfort without leaving the atmosphere of the property behind.

This becomes especially useful when choosing between the best sea view restaurants in Goa. A sea view is important, but so is having the freedom to decide how you want to experience it.

What Makes Our Cocktail Menu Goan

We did not want a cocktail list that could have been served unchanged in Mumbai, Bengaluru or anywhere else.

Our bar menu keeps the classics people love while giving several drinks their own coastal personality.

Salty Salcete brings kokum into the glass and takes its name from the part of Goa we call home. Bloody Peru combines tequila, guava and lime with a dry prawn, salt and chilli rim. The Bebedo uses feni with passionfruit, pineapple and mint.

Coco Macio arrives in a green coconut and needs very little explanation once you are sitting by the beach.

Our gin drinks move in another direction. Psych Tonic brings together gin, Aperol, elderflower and mint, while Mermaid Tonic uses clarified strawberry and basil for something lighter and aromatic.

Then there are the familiar choices. Margaritas, Mojitos, Sangria, Whisky Sours, spirits, wines, beers and non-alcoholic drinks all have their place.

The best cocktails in Goa do not have to be complicated for the sake of it. We would rather make drinks that suit the weather, food, company and coast around them.

For Couples: Come Before the Sunset Rush

If you are planning an evening for two, arrive before sunset rather than exactly at sunset.

It gives you time to choose your table, order without rushing and actually watch the colour of Benaulim Beach change rather than arriving halfway through it.

Our beachfront cabanas and quieter sections work particularly well for this pace.

Begin with a cocktail, order something small and decide on dinner later. There is no need to turn the evening into a formal occasion. The attraction is being able to sit beside the sea long enough for the day to become night almost without noticing it.

For Groups: Order for the Table, Not Just Yourself

A group evening works differently.

Nobody wants to spend half the night coordinating individual orders, changing venues or figuring out where to go after dinner.

Our larger seating areas and Wooden Dance Floor allow groups to settle in for the night. Pitchers such as Boozy Butterfly work naturally around a shared table, while our food menu gives everyone enough choice to build the meal around different preferences.

On evenings with live music or DJs, dinner can gradually become a night out without requiring another cab ride across Goa.

That is one reason groups often look beyond a conventional restaurant when choosing beach bars in Goa. The venue needs to hold the full evening, not only the first drink.

For birthdays, reunions and larger tables, we recommend reserving in advance and telling us what kind of setting you prefer.

Coming Solo? Pick Your Own Pace

There is something underrated about having a drink alone on a Goa beach.

Earlier in the day, the Lounge Area or a quieter beachfront table gives you space to read, work through the menu or simply watch Benaulim without needing to fill the silence.

Come later and the atmosphere naturally becomes more social, particularly when music is scheduled.

We have always wanted The Southern Deck to work whether you arrive as a couple, with ten friends or entirely on your own.

A good bar should not make you feel as though you need a group to belong there.

Do Not Separate the Cocktails from the Food

A beach bar becomes more interesting when the food keeps you at the table.

Our menu moves across Goan seafood, Indian favourites and global dishes, which means a cocktail stop can easily become lunch or dinner.

With sharper, citrus-led drinks, seafood and lighter dishes work naturally. Richer coastal preparations can take something more spirit-forward, while groups often prefer sharing several plates and allowing the drinks to move around the table with them.

When Should You Visit The Southern Deck?

That depends on the Goa evening you are looking for.

Come during the afternoon if you want the beach at its most open and a slower drink before the evening crowd arrives.

For sundowners, arrive before sunset and give yourself enough time to settle in. Beachfront seating is naturally more sought after at this hour.

If live music, DJs or a livelier atmosphere are part of the plan, check our current programme before visiting. Entertainment schedules can change, and we would rather you plan around what is actually happening that evening.

We are open from 12 pm to 1 am, seven days a week, so a visit can be anything from a long lunch to a late night by the sea.

For weekends, preferred beachfront seating and larger groups, reserve your table ahead of time.

A Cocktail Should Remember Where It Was Served

There are plenty of places in Goa where you can order a good drink.

What we try to create at The Southern Deck is the memory around it.

Maybe it is Salty Salcete as the sun begins to disappear over Benaulim. Maybe it is a pitcher shared with old friends while the band starts. Maybe it is one quiet drink at the Lounge before dinner.
